As a Fresh Foods Clerk, you’ll play an important role in delivering excellent customer service while preparing and maintaining fresh food products in our deli, seafood, and pizza areas.


Job Overview

The Fresh Foods Clerk assists customers at the Fresh Foods department by preparing food items, maintaining clean and organized food production areas, and ensuring products are fresh, properly stocked, and attractively displayed. Team members typically work 6–8-hour shifts between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service at the deli, seafood, and pizza counters

  • Take customer orders and answer questions about products

  • Prepare and cook fresh food items following recipes and food safety guidelines

  • Fry food, operate rotisserie ovens, and prepare ready-to-bake or baked pizzas

  • Stock, rotate, and display fresh food products

  • Inspect products for quality and freshness

  • Label items with correct pricing, descriptions, and dates

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area

  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment such as slicers, fryers, and dishwashers

  • Receive and verify inventory shipments

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures

  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to read labels, recipes, and production guides

  • Basic math skills for weights, measurements, and inventory

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move quickly for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

  • Comfortable working in cold environments (-20°F to 28°F) and near hot equipment

  • Must follow safety guidelines and wear required protective gear

  • Must be at least 16 years old


Additional Qualifications

  • Food Handler Certification (as required by state law)
