Data Center Technician

About the Role

As a Data Center Technician, you’ll be part of the team that powers the physical infrastructure behind Google’s global services. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware, supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, networks, and data center equipment in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience assembling mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repair and troubleshooting on technical equipment

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, including bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting

  • Flexibility to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift-based hours


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols

  • Experience with IT equipment repair or similar roles (e.g., Systems Administrator, Network Deployment Engineer, Help Desk Technician)

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-changing environment

  • Clear understanding and execution of verbal and written instructions


What You’ll Do

  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects and functions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware or infrastructure issues following established data center procedures

  • Maintain data security and integrity, including proper handling and tracking of media in compliance with security standards

  • Disassemble and replace end-of-life equipment as part of a team

  • Perform repairs, fixes, and preventative maintenance on servers and infrastructure with defined solutions and limited guidance

The AI and Infrastructure team delivers computing power at massive scale, enabling products used by billions worldwide. From hardware to software, the team supports next-generation technologies including AI platforms, global networking, data center operations, and advanced systems research.


Compensation

  • Base Salary (U.S.): $61,500 – $86,000 annually

  • Plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits

  • Compensation varies by role, level, location, experience, and skills
